Our Biodesign pool construction makes efficient use of all the resources involved – water, energy, raw materials, construction and maintenance. This full and ongoing approach reduces environmental impacts during the entire life of the pool. We’ve thought through the entire process from production and construction to installation and ongoing maintenance.

ABSENCE OF CONCRETE: Concrete is not an eco-friendly material to produce, use, or dispose of. Acquiring the raw materials needed to make concrete require large amounts of water and energy. Sand quarries used in concrete production cause pollution and destruction to the environment. Concrete is also estimated to be around 5% of the world’s total amount of carbon emissions. Massive amounts of heat are needed to burn raw cement materials at high temperatures so they can be formed into a rock-like substance and then crushed into cement powder.

EPDM IS CHEMICALLY STABLE AND COMPLETELY INERT: EPDM is the primary source for our pool liners and a better alternative to concrete both structurally and environmentally. EPDM doesn’t contain heavy metals and polluting additives like concrete. In addition, EPDM also does’t release harmful substances into the environment. Installations of EPDM no longer needed can actually be burned for energy production since it doesn’t produce dioxins. You can also safely dispose EPDM into landfills or recycle it for the production of new EPDM. Greenpeace has recommended EPDM as an alternative to PVC plastic.

CERTIFICATION OF THE RESIN: Properly hardened Biodesign resins are considered inert and can be disposed of together with the inert sand/stone material of the pool.

STABILITY OF THE EXCAVATION: Slopes range from 10 to 50 max. Fewer resources used to excavate in this manner and less materials are required for structural integrity due to more natural slopes. This saves you both time, money, and the hassle of many permit processes and regulations. No wood, steel or rebar is needed to shore unstable soils. The design of the excavation itself is more stable to begin with.
